How to Convert Weight to Volume Jet Fuel

Convert Jet Fuel from Weight to Volume

    • 1). Figure out how much fuel mass there is.

For example, an ocean crossing jumbo jet might hold approximately 333,000 pounds of jet fuel.

    • 2). Multiply the weight of jet fuel by the conversion factor 0.15. The product is the volume of jet fuel.

For example, 333,000 times 0.15 equals 49,950 gallons of jet fuel.

    • 3). Multiply the volume of jet fuel by the conversion factor 6.66 in order to convert from gallons into weight.

For example, 20,000 gallons of jet fuel times 6.66 equates to 133,200 pounds of jet fuel.
